Trust Transfers

Through our connections to the community and knowledge of the challenges they face, Hawke’s Bay Foundation will ensure that your Trust continues to give back to the community in ways that are meaningful, forever.

Growth

A trust transfer or trust resettlement is a simple way to wind up a trust or a charity while still fulfilling the original purpose of that trust.

Operating a trust or charity has become increasingly challenging. Factors such as legislative changes, difficulty finding new trustees, investing risk and increasing compliance expectations have resulted in a number of trustees questioning the future.

Transferring a Trust to Hawke’s Bay Foundation provides a simple and practical solution, allowing you to maintain the original intent of the Trust while handing over the responsibility of investing, compliance, governance and grant-making.

BENEFITS OF A TRUST TRANSFER

Case Study

Napier Cadet Trust

Forty years after forming, the Napier Cadet Trust gave a final salute, vesting its remaining cash and investment assets to Hawke’s Bay Foundation to carry on the good work for local youth.

The Trust, known for running Napier’s Cadet Academy, was responsible for the rollout of military styled life skill training for at risk youth in Hawke’s Bay.

Treasurer of the Napier Cadet Trust, Gavin Earle says the recent transfer of the Trust’s remaining assets was a ‘no brainer’.

Testimonials

"The NCA has always been about helping youth in Hawke’s Bay, with a particular focus on those who have challenges in their lives and don’t have the same opportunities. Our Trustees are very comforted knowing that having passed the baton, The Foundation will ensure that these broad principles are continued in perpetuity."
