Hawke’s Bay Museum Fund
The Hawke’s Bay Museum Fund supports the growth, development and preservation of the collections held at MTG Hawke’s Bay, one of New Zealand’s foremost regional museums.
As an avenue for donations and bequests, the Fund will support the continuing acquisition of new works and artifacts that reflect the heritage and history of Hawke’s Bay. Established by the Hawke’s Bay Museums Foundation Charitable Trust, this Fund will safeguard the history and heritage of Hawke’s Bay so that the stories of our unique region will be told for generations to come.
The HB Museums Trust is the kaitiaki / guardian of over 90,000 historical treasures collected over the past 160 years and held for the benefit of the people of Hawke’s Bay. Hastings and Napier Councils fund the care of the collection, but this does not extend to any budget for new acquisitions to expand on our region’s story.
Hawke’s Bay already has one of New Zealand’s finest regional collections and a superb central Napier Museum facility in which to display it. In addition, the built-for-purpose HB Research & Archive Centre will open in Hastings in late 2025. This state-of-the-art building has been designed for the long-term safe storage of the collection, with capacity for growth.
There is nothing we do in the present that is not influenced by the past, so please join us in protecting, preserving and growing this essential regional resource so that we can continue to tell the story of Hawke’s Bay forever.
